It was summer and the plane just landed. I was thrilled and looked forward to have loads of

fun this vacation. It was a one hour drive from the airport. I am a very sleepy person and obviously I dozed off to sleep on the way to my grandma’s house. The car came to a halt and the first thing I noticed when I opened my eyes was the greenery. It was so soothing to my eyes. I could admire the beauty of nature for days. I took a deep breath to allow the smell of freshly mowed grass to fill my nostrils.

And outside the house was my grandma waving to me. Her smile is so beautiful that it just makes me forget everything around me.

I helped my dad get our bags from the car and got inside the house. The best thing I love about the house is the big old swing that me and my cousin fight for when we were young. I still love that swing.

The busy day went in unpacking my clothes and laughing at my brother’s jokes. That night I slept peacefully while the crickets chirped.

The next morning I woke up pretty early. I’m certainly not an early bird but I just didn’t want to sleep anymore. The rest of my family was sleeping and my grandma said she was going outside for a work. As I was alone I made a warm cup of coffee for myself. I heard someone calling out to me so I went outside to check. A woman signaled me to my right and I saw water dripping from the tap. I thanked her and closed the tap as my grandma probably forgot as she left in a hurry. Just after closing the tap I heard something run behind me. I looked around and my heart leaped. I totally forgot my grandma had a dog. And it wasn’t a tiny little munchkin like I thought but a big and fierce dog. I had no clue what to do and my mind went blank. The dog had already reached the front door and I had no chance of getting into the house. Many people tell that running away from a dog is not good but I had no other option. I ran as fast as I could. We had a staircase outside the house that leads to the terrace. The staircase had a small gate to prevent the dog from going to the terrace. Thank goodness I had long legs. I jumped over the gate and looked back. The dog couldn’t come. I smiled in joy but just then I realized the dog started pulling the lock. I was scared if it might open the gate. Near the staircase was a shed in which the gardening equipments were kept. I had no choice so I jumped over the railing of the staircase and ran to the shed and locked myself inside. The dog realized that I ran and followed me. It started scratching the door. And the worst part was, I had forgotten to turn on the lights. It was early morning and it was really dark inside. I hate darkness. I waited quietly until I heard the dog walk away. I unlocked the door and peeped outside and the dog ran back to me. I immediately shut the door.

I’m sure I was inside the shed for almost an hour until I heard the front gate opening. It was my grandma! I was glad and shouted at the top of my voice so that she would hear me. My grandma told me to come outside. I had beads of sweat and opened the door. Outside was my grandma beaming at me and next to her was the dog. My grandma assured me that he was a friendly dog. And all of a sudden the dog seemed pretty sweet. It came to me and started playing around. The dog probably wanted someone to play with and I kept running away the whole time. Yes I’m kind of silly at times, but this was a fun little story and I hope it made you laugh. And guess what, the dog’s name is ‘TIGER’ and he is my best friend!
