Last summer I went to a very interesting and unique place in India. It had lovely green valleys and you could get a glimpse of snow clad mountains. I was mesmerized by the beauty of Leh Ladakh (11,500 ft high) the moment my plane landed. I just couldn’t take my eyes off the beauty of nature. It was clearly the handiwork of nature that brought a charm to this town.

At Thiksey Monastry

DAY 3

We had booked a hotel room which made us feel closest to nature. After a day’s rest we hit the road next morning right after breakfast. A staff in the hotel suggested we go visit the Thiksay Monastery and it was the best. The monastery looked like a majestic fortress on a hilltop. The moment we entered, the heavenly feel and the spiritual vibe was felt. Every single detail in the monastery made it even more special. At sundown we took a stroll through the market nearby and collected many souvenirs at a pretty reasonable cost.

Sangam Valley

DAY 4

Even before sunrise at around five o’clock if I’m not wrong, we got ready to spend our day at the Sangam Valley which is the confluence of two rivers, Indus and Zanskar. The road to Sangam was a little curvy but I managed to not throw up on our way. I knew we reached the location after the sound of water hit my ears. I must say that apart from all, this place was the best for thrill seekers as the rafting experience was just fantastic. After a splash at Sangam we headed straight to a restaurant for dinner. I had never seen a restaurant so calming. It had a bonfire surrounding with seats where you can sit and listen calming music performed by a band.

DAY 5

The following day was very tiring to be frank. We set off early to Pangong Tso lake. It was a very long drive which made me feel sick as I’m not very used to heights. However the view at Pangong Tso eased my pain. It was such a beautiful sight. The peacock blue water had a mix of shades which seemed to shine under the bright morning sun. This was the best place to click the most amazing selfies. I surely filled my camera’s memory space with all the pictures I took here. We spent an hour or two here and then set off to a place where we could see snow as I insisted. It was summer and it wasn’t snowing everywhere. We again had a long drive and reached a place where the snow had still not melted. Everyone was clicking pictures but all I did was just feel the ice-cold snow between my warm fingers. I was not wearing gloves which resulted in me catching a bad cold and sneezes but it sure was a memorable moment.

Our trip was extremely fun and will be always remembered. I’m not much of an active person but this trip has taught me a good lesson. I can’t wait to travel more!
