The joy of sowing a seed and growing it into a plant is just priceless. I never realized it until I developed an interest in gardening. I have a small balcony garden, where I grow herbs like coriander, mint and fenugreek. Along with herbs, I grow tomatoes, chili, aloe vera and money plant. Yes, it does get messy at times as I’m a very clumsy person and keep spilling soil all over the place, but it’s just so much fun handling tiny little seedlings. I’ve always admired the beauty of nature but I’ve never tried growing my own little garden. My mother once called me and gave me a few cilantro seeds and told me to plant them outside. This ignited the desire to grow and learn more about plants. I kept watching lots of gardening videos and learnt a lot of new things. Of course I’m not a pro in gardening and in fact I’ve killed many plants due to some of my silly mistakes like over watering, to much of sunlight and the list just goes on.

But one thing that I’ve learnt through my gardening journey is that plants need so much love and care. They of course can’t speak out their needs but they show them. When a plant is thirsty it becomes dry and when there is too much sun the plant turns yellow. Plants also require a lot of patience and dedication. Gardening not only helps in mental health but also physical health. There are lots of work plants need like pruning, watering, tilling and regular fertilizers which helps you burn some calories. Those who don’t have an open space shouldn’t restrict themselves as anyone can grow cilantro or oregano in tiny containers right at your kitchen counter.

So what are you waiting for? Gets some seeds and soil and start gardening, you can never be too late.
